Latch Wren is a local workspace for independent game creators prototyping levels. It brings together four structured mechanism behaviors with parameters, licenses, version, local level assembly and export. Visitors can choose and run specimen, then adjust speed/travel, then import instance with credit, then run/export local level. The interface keeps its working actions close to their context, so the next decision is visible. Illustrated local engine, up to 24 instances.

A Mechanism Is More Than Its Motion
A working mechanism is easy to admire in isolation. Reusing it asks for more: parameters that still make sense, a compatible version and permission to carry it into another work. Latch Wren keeps those details beside the movement.
A specimen can be run before it is adopted. Speed and travel make the behavior inspectable, and the imported instance keeps those choices with its author, license and version. This makes the transfer visible instead of treating a download as the end of the problem. Local level export preserves a composition that browser storage alone cannot safely carry to another device.
The cabinet treats attribution as part of the mechanism rather than a document stored somewhere else. Importing the lift changes the level count and brings its parameters, author and license into the same local composition. A visitor can inspect that handoff immediately. Latch Wren is therefore a place to begin assembly with known parts, not a promise of unlimited compatibility. The current illustrated engine and structured module format define what the workbench can actually accept.
License filtering belongs near the first choice. A commercial-use filter cannot replace reading the terms, but it can stop an unsuitable starting point from looking interchangeable. Import a mechanism and the level count changes. Its author and license come with it. That visible handoff is the heart of the cabinet.
